Cross-rated from Machinist Mate (MM) to Gunner's Mate (GM), advancing to Petty Officer Third Class (E-4) across four years of active duty. As MM, operated and maintained ship propulsion machinery including steam turbines, reduction gears, and turbogenerators used to produce electrical power. Maintained auxiliary systems including electro-hydraulic steering engines, refrigeration plants, air conditioning systems, desalination plants, pumps, and oil purifiers. Aligned piping systems for oil, water, air, and steam. As GM, operated and maintained guided missile launching systems, gun mounts, small arms, and associated ordnance equipment. Worked with electrical and electronic circuitry alongside mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to perform detailed casualty analyses. Supervised ammunition handling, stowage, and magazine operations. Led a high-tempo work center with zero mishaps, managed qualification programs across the eastern fleet, and trained junior personnel to meet deployment-ready standards.
